Make sure you take the family down into the complex network of caves hidden beneath the castle quarter. A fascinating tour shares secrets including gruesome tales of murdered kings as well as the Prince of Thieves himself. The steep steps might be tricky for short legs but it’s well worth it - some of the caves even date back to medieval times.

Your Nottingham Castle experience is only going to get better. A total of £:29.4 million is being invested to redevelop the site, including the Ducal Palace and Grounds and the sprawling cave systems hidden within the Castle Rock. Get there in 2021 to see what improvements have been made.
